Face-off: 2200 ET, 24/11/2021
Venue: Gila River Arena
Edmonton romped to a 5-1 victory in Arizona a month ago but may be given a tougher work-out by an improved Coyotes outfit when returning to Gila River Arena.
The hosts are coming off a couple of overtime triumphs and have been involved in a series of tight tussles in recent outings.
Let’s open our Arizona Coyotes vs Edmonton Oilers predictions by taking 1.75 for Andre Tourigny’s side with 1.5 goals start on the spreads.
Arizona Coyotes Odds
Arizona are still rock bottom of the Western Central division but nobody can question the spirit they are showing at present.
Just as they had done against Detroit at this venue on Saturday, the Coyotes came from behind to win 2-1 in overtime against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.
Travis Boyd cancelled out Brendan Lemieux’s opener and Kyle Capobianco netted the decider in the extra period.
Goaltender Karel Vejmelka also had a night to remember, registering 37 saves in his first NHL success.
“It was a tough game for everybody but we played well for 60 minutes,” said Vejmelka on the club website.
“Big points for us and I believe we will play the next game the same way.”
Capobianco added: “I think it’s the character we have in the room. We know we’re not out of games, we’re just sticking with our system and wearing teams down.”
Arizona had previously edged out St Louis 3-2 before only going down 5-4 to Columbus in overtime.
Looking at the NHL odds for this contest, 4.25 for the Coyotes to be involved in a fourth straight draw after regular time takes the eye.
Edmonton Oilers Odds
We highlighted how Edmonton have suffered from some travel sickness of late in our match preview of Monday’s clash with Dallas and they duly lost for the fourth time in six road trips.
Penalties proved costly as the Oilers fell 3-0 behind in Texas before eventually dropping to 13-5-0 via a 4-1 defeat.
Defenceman Cody Ceci commented: “We’ve played pretty good at home but we’ve got to find a way to play a little better on the road.”
The Oilers conceded the first goal for the eighth time in their last nine outings, so 2.20 for Arizona to break the deadlock here is tempting.
One player who will be relishing a return to Glendale, though, is Connor McDavid, who had two goals and an assist for Edmonton here last month.
Let’s finish off our NHL predictions for this match by taking 1.65 for the 24-year-old centre to register over 1.5 points again.
Los Angeles 1-2 ARIZONA (OT)
Dallas 4-1 EDMONTON
Head-to-head: Arizona 1-5 Edmonton, Arizona 3-0 Edmonton, Edmonton 7-3 Arizona, Arizona 0-1 Edmonton
