Europa League predictions, football

Lazio to win at Galatasaray @ Evens

Galatasaray crashed to a 7-2 aggregate defeat against PSV Eindhoven to drop out of the Champions League and then made hard work of getting through the Europa League qualifiers. They were held to a home draw by St Johnstone before winning the return leg in Perth and then had to come from behind in the second leg to scrape past Danish side Randers 3-2. Lazio lost to AC Milan at the weekend but scored nine goals in beating Empoli and Spezia prior to that and Ciro Immobile leads the Serie A goal chart so the Roman side look a solid pick as the first of our Europa League predictions.

Marseille to win at Lokomotiv Moscow @ 21/20

PSG are expected to cruise to the Ligue 1 title this season after their summer recruitment but Marseille look to have a good opportunity to be the best of the rest in France and are off to an impressive start with 10 points from four matches, scoring 10 goals in the process. Dimitri Payet and Cengiz Under have three apiece so Marseille look in good shape ahead of their trip to the Russian capital. Lokomotiv failed to win a match in their Champions League group last season and this looks another tough test for them.

Midtjylland to beat Ludogorets @ 3/4

Ludogorets had a great opportunity to make it through Champions League qualifying but fell at the final hurdle as they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Malmo. We’re predicting more disappointment as they head to Denmark to face Celtic’s Champions League conquerors, whose hopes of qualifying for the elite competition were ended by PSV. Ludogorets lost all six of their matches in the Europa League last season and conceded an eye-watering 19 goals so are easy to oppose.

Bayer Leverkusen to beat Ferencvaros @ 2/9

Leverkusen’s unbeaten start to the season in Germany was ended at the weekend when they slipped to a 4-3 defeat against Borussia Dortmund despite taking the lead three times. They had previously put four goals past both Borussia Monchengladbach and Augsburg, with Euro 2020 star Patrik Schick and Moussa Diaby bagging three goals apiece already. Ferencvaros lost both legs of their Champions League qualifier against Young Boys of Switzerland and this looks even more difficult.

Monaco to beat Sturm Graz @ 4/9

Sturm Graz are already seven points adrift of Austrian Bundesliga leaders RB Salzburg after just seven rounds of matches. They lost 3-1 to the champions on the opening weekend and have also dropped points against Austria Wien and Admira Wacker, having failed to keep a clean sheet so far. Their defensive limitations can be exposed by a Monaco team featuring the likes of Kevin Volland and Wissam Ben Yedder so a home win is a solid pick as the last of our Europa League predictions.
