Preston to beat Sheffield Wednesday @ 13/10
Preston’s results have been one of the quirks of the season in the Championship, with Alex Neil’s men losing all five home matches but picking up 13 points on their travels. It is only a matter of time before those numbers even themselves out and we’re backing them to get a first Deepdale win on the board as the first of our football accumulator tips. This is the first match in charge for new Sheffield Wednesday boss Tony Pulis but he has only had a few days to work with the squad and it is questionable whether he is the right man to solve their goalscoring issues, with the Owls having managed only six goals this season.
Swansea to beat Rotherham @ 3/4
Swansea have looked one of the strongest teams in the Championship so far, losing just two games, and they were unfortunate not to secure at least a point at promotion rivals Norwich last time out. This looks a good opportunity to get straight back to winning ways, having enjoyed back-to-back 2-0 victories against Stoke and Blackburn on home soil. Rotherham are unbeaten in six matches against teams in the bottom half but five defeats from five against teams in the top half have highlighted their limitations.
Ipswich to beat Shrewsbury @ 17/20
The way Ipswich’s form dropped off last season means their fans will not be getting too excited by their start to the season but they have certainly stopped the rot and are just three points behind leaders Peterborough with a game in hand. That is largely thanks to their home form, with Town winning all five matches at Portman Road without conceding a goal. It is hard to see that record ending this weekend against Shrewsbury, who have generally looked short of firepower.
Cheltenham to beat Walsall @ 83/100
Cheltenham have had a frustrating habit of throwing in the odd poor result but in general are one of the best teams in League Two, as shown by recent wins against Forest Green and Carlisle, who also look set to be in the promotion mix. No team has drawn more games in the division than Walsall but they became the first team to lose against Southend last weekend and we’re happy to oppose them here.
Cambridge to win at Southend @ 18/25
That 1-0 victory at Walsall ended Southend’s long wait for their first win of the campaign but they remain three points adrift at the foot of League Two. They have the worst defence in the division with 25 goals conceded, which is the same number as Cambridge have scored. The hosts have been the most prolific team in the country so far and look a solid pick to complete our football accumulator tips for Saturday.
